Quaker Wikiproject
[edit]Hello, if anyone is interested, I just started a Quaker WikiProject, which can be found at WP:WQ or Wikipedia:WikiProject Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Zach 00:29, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]I just noticed that the portrait of John Woolman in this article is the same as the one representing George Fox, the founder of the Quaker movement, in a related article. Perhaps someone familiar with the likenesses of each can rectify this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.121.34.84 (talk) 00:29, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Good point, they do appear to be the same picture. The version used for Fox appears to be better sourced, so I'll remove this one, and comment on the WikiCommons image page. --Ahc (talk) 03:48, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Wiki Quote
[edit]Is there anyone who could set up a Wikiquote page for John Woolman and link it to Wikipedia. It is way beyond my level of knowhow at the moment. Here is a good quote to begin with.
"I find that to be a fool as to worldly wisdom, and to commit my cause to God, not fearing to offend men, who take offence at the simplicity of truth, is the only way to remain unmoved at the sentiments of others." John Woolman. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruskin (talk • contribs) 04:38, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Expansion Needed
[edit]John Woolman was kicked out of his meeting. This is extremely significant. Woolman's devotion to abolition even in conflict with his meeting, and him being a birthright Quaker, must be reported in an encyclopedia article about him. Georgenancy (talk) 02:52, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
- It would be useful for you to provide a date for this event and further content about the context, plus a reliable source (RS) for this assertion, including: author, title, publisher, location of publication, date, and page of citation. Thanks.Parkwells (talk) 19:33, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
This looks kinda wrong?
[edit]"John Woolman Was goddamn bird murder and a total asshole" line 1 ? oh no - its ok now, sorry

Not a vegetarian
[edit]Woolman was not a vegetarian. The article needs to be corrected and updated. Also see related discussion [1]
"There is no evidence that Woolman ever became fully vegetarian like Lay, Evans, and Benezet" [2]
"Woolman did not become a strident vegetarian, but in other respects his perspective on animal life resembled the views of Tryon and Evans". [3]
"Woolman was not a complete vegetarian" [4]. Psychologist Guy (talk) 01:39, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
