Welcome to my humble abode. Well, not quite a real world abode, but I seem to have become pretty comfortable with Wikipedia, so it almost fits...
Since I intend to be actively contributing to the Wikipedia, it also seems appropriate to provide a short page about myself. After all, people might like to know who's definition they are getting.
I am a 29 year old, male, caucasian (not that any of that really should matter), Civil Engineer from Ottawa Canada, formerly worked in New Zealand where I received both my Canadian and New Zealand licensing as a Structural engineer. I also picked up a fantastic little Kiwi while there, whom I love very much. Sorry to be mushy, even if just for a moment. My intention is to eventually obtain my doctorate in structural engineering and to teach engineering until the day I die, all the while practicing as a consultant engineer.
I am currently continuing work on several personal projects, including a rather interesting Bridge design based on new materials: The specifications I set out for myself call for zero traditional materials. No metal, no concrete, no wood, no masonry, etc... Plastics and recyclables only.
Wikipedia wise, I am just starting out. However, I am strongly considering a series of How-tos for the application of engineering principles and techniques. The emphasis would of course be on Structural engineering.
In my rather short life to date I have been many things, but most of all I have learnt and learnt that I love learning most of all. I also picked up the awareness of just how little I know, and hope that through Wikipedia I might be able to exchange some of my knowledge for new learning.
Some interesting quotes:
One dead man is a tragedy. A million dead men is a statistic. Vladimir Lenin
Oh people, know that you have commited great sins. If you ask me what proof I have for these words, it is that I am the wrath of God. Had you not sinned, God would not have set a punishment like me upon you! Genghis Khan
„ Deux choses sont infinies : l'Univers et la bêtise humaine. Mais, en ce qui concerne l'Univers, je n'en ai pas encore acquis la certitude absolue. ” Albert Einstein
