The result of the debate was TRANSWIKI AND DELETE
Dicdef and neologism. I haven't heard this word used outside of a few magazines. Luigi30 11:56, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Delete as POV neology dic def. Mgm|(talk)
- Delete as trivial dicdef: we have über, geek and English compounds already. :-) This is almost a speedy. Almost. JRM 12:15, 2004 Dec 8 (UTC)
- Delete, although it's quite a common term in certain circles. Still a dicdef with little to no potential to expand -- Ferkelparade π 12:25, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Delete, I wrote it because I saw the term used in a Wired news article describing 'geeks and ubergeeks' and wondered what the difference was. I saw no reference to ubergeek here, so decided to find the definition elsewhere and add it. Thought an encyclopaedia helped one find definitions without having to look up each individual compound and forge a meaning (which is not always true in any case). But if this breaks wp rules sure go ahead delete it. Just thought it was a nice intro to my writing for wp on a term wp did not already contain. PS I haven't heard of a lot of stuff mentioned on wp or indeed other encyclopaedias, but that in itself doesn't invalidate a word, or a newly formed word. Sigh. (author: see sarcasm before it gets moved to the dictionary - rofl - perhaps also apathy which interestingly isn't voted to move to dictionary even though it is also a definition - LOL)
- This one should be a speedy delete now, since the author has voted for deletion. utcursch 13:18, Dec 8, 2004 (UTC)
- Move to Wiktionary. Certainly familiar with the term.--Tomheaton 13:35, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- I've heard the term, the article as it stands is probably better in Wiktionary than Wikipedia. Average Earthman 15:30, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Move to Wiktionary. Term is in legitimate fairly frequent use in geek culture circles (Slashdot, The Register, etc.) but needs no more that a definition. Be sure to list both under "ubergeek" and "übergeek" as it has the umlaut as often as not. Dpbsmith (talk) 16:42, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Transwiki to Wikitionary. Certainly seen this used and use it myself. David Johnson 17:52, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Transwiki to the Wiktionary. GRider\talk 18:49, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Move to Wiktionary. P Ingerson 19:04, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Move to Wiktionary. Definitely familiar with the term, but shouldn't be here. Katefan0 19:20, Dec 8, 2004 (UTC)
- Wictionary Wyss 20:34, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Transwiki to Wiktionary. Jayjg 20:36, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Gamaliel 20:37, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect to Linus Torvalds. :) Shane King 00:22, Dec 9, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Neologism, one of several that have recently been made fashionable than formerly by the craze for adding the German über to an English substantive or even an adjective. Most of them will be gone by the end of the academic year. Not worth a transwiki in my opinion. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 00:33, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Wikitionary --Edeans 03:15, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Transfer to the Wiktionary. —RaD Man (talk) 04:47, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Move to Wiktionary.: I myself use this term frequently. Coolgamer 03:32, 11 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Del. no wiktionary. Mikkalai 08:34, 11 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Slang dicdef. JFW | T@lk 11:37, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Transwiki -> Wiktionary. It goes hand-in-hand with alphageek. Markaci 11:49, 2004 Dec 13 (UTC)
