- Spaniards from Toledo used the coastal side of Giloktog in approaching Balili then. During the period decendants of Salipara a chieftain who retreated to weastcoast of Cebu after his defeat from eastcoat led against the invaders namely Kanla Tumbo, Kandugay, Kanhakbas, Kanpangga Kandampas,are principal chieftains. Despite adoption of Christianity, uprising still exist until the mid 1800 when some Kapangpangan natives led by Captain Jose Aguilar, antonio Paras, among others succeed in befriending the locale. Captain Aguilar or Captain Osep administered the west coast of cebu protecting against the Moros. The municipality stood as one of resistance areas agist American presence. One of those who led are the general Jose Tabar and Carmeleniano Alfajora, a descendants of Salipara who used Alfafara clan during 1800. Barangay Malolos is in honor of thousands who died against the American occupation. The Giloktog was again the site first actual combat in cebu agaist the Japanese. A cliff called Palalong were the site of execution of guerilla forces. Gen Jose Abad santos was captured in Dakit Barili and was killed in Mindanao.mantayupan was the site of general Cushing post communition links for australia.it was there Victory notes was printed by Barba press.
