Religion
[edit]Per infobox: "Sunni Islam". What WP:RS speaks of what religion he had? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:38, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
Wives of ertugrul ghazi
[edit]He married Halima Khatoon as well as Ilbilge Khatoon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sana101 (talk • contribs) 18:19, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- I think you're thinking about Ertuğrul Bey (fictional character). This article is about history, though. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:25, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
Ertagul gazi is Shia aur Sunni
[edit]What is your opinion 103.121.240.196 (talk) 00:43, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- The question from the WP-perspective is: What does history-books say about it? Perhaps is wasn't terminology people in his time and place bothered with. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:50, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
Coins of Osman (regarding Gündüz Alp)
[edit]Here I found a link, a third coin found belonging to Osman reads as follows:ḌarebeʿOsmān Erṭuġrul [bin] Gündüz Alpī. However the one in the article doesn't mention it. As @IAmAtHome: mentioned in 2020. However TDV Islam Ansiklopedi's information regarding that issue matches this particular coin. Beshogur (talk) 18:49, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
- Looks like an interesting source and I see it mentions Erṭuġrul several times. Can't read it, though, apart from the english abstract. What do you want to add to/change in the article based on it? If you use it, consider adding a translated quote of the relevant text to the cite. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:54, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- Yes it seems to be an interesting piece. Like Gråbergs Gråa Sång, I'm not able to look into it. @Beshogur: But I didn't understand what you wanted to say. Are you referring to this edit? If Yes, then I lost the sources alluding this case. IAmAtHome (talk) 15:03, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- Yes. Nevermind I thought, you said there is no such coin, misunderstood it. Beshogur (talk) 16:08, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- Nope, what I said: the coin does not mention the relation "Osman bin Ertuğrul bin Gündüz Alp". It only reads "Osman Ertuğrul Gündüz Alp"(here a site mentioning). I know it doesn't seem reliable. So far as the Arabic term "bin" [meaning son of] is concerned, its totally seems strange to believe that Osman used Arabic patronymic on coin instead of Turkish patronymic (i.e, oğlu). So I thought if coin only read Osman Ertuğrul Gündüz, it would have indicated that Osman added his name first then his father (Ertuğrul) and then his brother (Gündüz Alp [son of Ertuğrul]) instead of Suleyman Shah (if father of Ertuğrul). (Possibility, Not perfect statement) IAmAtHome (talk) 16:30, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- That's a remote possibility imo. Ottomans always used Arabic numismatics. Beshogur (talk) 17:15, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- It doesn't surprise (me) if Arabic was the "Latin" in the Islamic world. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:59, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
